What the trailer shows

First, the trailer opens on a visibly older Dante. He has longer, unkempt hair and a coat that more closely resembles his outfit from the 2003 game Devil May Cry 2. Meanwhile, Lady appears with her organization and tells Dante they’ve located his twin brother, who is causing trouble.

Then the scene moves to the two brothers meeting. They exchange words and quickly come to blows in the middle of a rainy lake. In addition, the trailer confirms that Vergil is present in season 2 and that the encounter will be violent rather than purely conversational.

Connections to season 1

Importantly, this meeting had been foreshadowed. Season 1 opened on a scene that set up Dante’s search for his brother; at that time Dante confronted a clone demon named Plasma. Therefore, the brothers’ reunion in season 2 follows the thread established by those earlier events.
