New Strange New Worlds Clip Shows the Enterprise Pulled into a Deadly Cosmic Storm — Season 5 Already Filming

Paramount+ showed a four-minute clip of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 at New York Comic Con, and then uploaded that footage to YouTube. The short teaser follows the U.S.S. Enterprise bridge as the crew encounters a fast-expanding cosmic storm and a distress buoy, and it confirms that filming for season 4 wrapped earlier this summer. Meanwhile, production is already underway on the show’s fifth and final season.
Season 4 footage revealed at NYCC
At New York Comic Con, Paramount+ presented a roughly four-minute clip from Strange New Worlds season 4. The footage was then posted to YouTube by Paramount+, giving fans a first public look beyond the panel. The video centers on the Enterprise bridge and its response to an unusual space phenomenon.
What happens in the clip
First, the bridge crew observes a cosmic storm from a distance. The scene features Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn), La’An Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), and Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding). A new Vulcan character is also present and points out that the ship’s digital data is particularly important.
Next, the Enterprise detects a distress buoy inside the storm. Helmsman Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia) moves the ship closer despite an engineering message warning that the vessel is exceeding normal parameters. Then, the bridge is shown flipping repeatedly as the ship travels through the storm, which expands too quickly for escape. The Enterprise is pulled into a warp field and becomes stuck without power.
Finally, the clip shows the crew preparing to send a shuttle to a nearby M-class planet to look for iridium needed to restart the warp drive.
Production status and timing
Filming for Strange New Worlds season 4 wrapped earlier this summer. No premiere date for season 4 has been announced. At the same time, production has already begun on season 5, which the show’s team has identified as the final season.
