Quick facts

To summarize: 40,000 games owned, badge earned on September 23, 2025, about 15 years of collection. Moreover, Steam added nearly 19,000 games in 2024 alone, so the platform’s catalog is growing fast. Also, only this one account has reached the current highest badge tier.

How they did it

Steam awards profile badges for tiers of game ownership, and the top existing tier is for 40,000 games. Consequently, to reach that tier you have to actively acquire thousands of titles, including many low-cost or bundled entries. In this specific case, the collector didn’t stop at 40,000; their account showed 40,029 games at the time of reporting, suggesting ongoing additions.

What they own

Reportedly, SonixLegend’s account technically lists over 97,000 titles, but Valve excludes many shovelware entries from the badge count, so just over 40,000 are counted toward the Game Collector badge. For context, you need at least 19,000 owned games to crack the top 100 on the collection leaderboard, and at least 33,000 to reach the top ten. The leaderboard itself is visible on the SteamDB game collection leaderboard.

Playtime and reviews

Despite the massive library, SonixLegend is an active player. Their most-played title is Alien Swarm, with 551 hours logged and every achievement unlocked. Additionally, they have fully completed at least 34 games according to Steam’s “perfect” achievement tracking.

However, hands-on engagement with the entire collection is impossible. Estimates show it would take at least seven years of continuous play to finish every game in the collection if the most economical path is taken; see the HowLongToBeat estimate for details.

On writing and opinions, SonixLegend has posted only 20 reviews. For example, they praised Black Myth: Wukong, and they wrote the following about another title: “A rubbish game made by rubbish.” Two player reviews for high-priced entries are quoted elsewhere: “Selling this game is fraud,” and “Got this as a throw-in with a G2A purchase and I still feel scammed,” reflecting that some costly items in the library are still poorly received.

Value and extra notes

Monetary totals vary by source. The games in the account add up to about $644,904 at list prices, according to the SteamDB value calculator. Meanwhile, SteamDB’s account valuation tool lists the account’s value as roughly $250,041.

Also, the most expensive single item in the collection is 3DF Zephyr Lite Steam Edition at $249.99, and many of the top-priced items in the collection are listed at $199.99. For example, one such $199.99 item is discussed on its Steam store page; see the Hexaluga store page.

Finally, the collector’s unplayed games are estimated to total about $241,524 in current value, which underlines how the accumulation of titles can represent a large sunk cost even if much of the library never gets played.
