Overwatch 2 is back with a bang! Season 17 is just around the corner, promising a ton of fresh content, cool features, and some wild surprises for both new and veteran players. Whether you’re grinding Competitive, chilling in Quick Play, or obsessed with Stadium mode, there’s something here for everyone. Check out what’s coming and get hyped for June 24!

  • Stadium mode gets new heroes, maps, and the Stadium Forge feature
  • Map voting and a brand new Flashpoint map for core modes
  • 8-bit and Overwatch Academy-themed cosmetics, including two Mythic skins
  • Limited-time 6v6 Hacks & Hijinx mode
  • Special events and a G.I. Joe collab teased

Stadium Mode Evolves: New Heroes, Maps & Features

Season 17 gives Stadium mode a serious upgrade. Three more heroes—Junkrat, Sigma, and Zenyatta—join the roster, each with some wild new powers. For example, Junkrat seems to be able to throw out his Total Mayhem bombs while flying off a Concussion Mine, Sigma’s got four orbiting Hyperspheres, and Zenyatta can debuff enemies with his Transcendence.

On top of that, two new maps are coming to Stadium: mode-specific versions of Esperança (Push) and Samoa (Control). The real game-changer, though, is the Stadium Forge—a system where you can create, save, and share custom team comps, complete with early and late-game loadouts for every hero. Perfect for strategy nerds and pros alike!

Map Voting & New Flashpoint Map

Core game modes aren’t getting left behind. Blizzard is introducing map voting for Quick Play and Competitive! After locking in your role, you’ll get three random maps to pick from. Each vote ups the chance for your favorite, and the winner is chosen roulette-style. No pressure—votes and names are hidden, and leaver penalties kick in as soon as voting starts, so stick around and make your voice count.

Plus, meet Aatlis: a brand new Flashpoint map set in Morocco. Think lush gardens, luxury resorts, and lots of tight, fast-paced fights.

Season 17 Battle Pass: 8-bit & Academy Vibes

This season’s Battle Pass comes packed with two main themes: 8-bit and Overwatch Academy. Unlock pixelated skins for Reinhardt, Genji, and Sombra, plus Sakura Ana, Delinquent Cole Cassidy, and Professor Fawkes Junkrat. On the top tier, you’ll find Principal Lacroix Widowmaker and Professor de Kuiper Sigma.

For the first time, both Mythics drop at launch: Mythic Horang D.Va and Mythic Steel Death Reaper Weapon. If you want a sneak peek at these skins, check out the trailer below:

Events: Powered Up & Hacks & Hijinx

Season 17 kicks off with the Powered Up event (June 24-30). Play 17 matches in any mode—Quick Play, Competitive, or Stadium—and you’ll score four Epic loot boxes. Not bad for a week’s work!

In July, get ready for Hacks & Hijinx, a limited-time 6v6 mode with modifiers that change every round. You could be floating in low gravity, chasing health packs that charge your Ultimate, or facing wild new mechanics. Blizzard teases: “Each round forces new strategies and quick thinking, so if you’re looking for pure chaos, remixed gameplay, and moments that make you say, ‘what just happened…’ we’ve got you.”

Overwatch 2 x G.I. Joe & Nerf Collab

Big collabs are on the way! The season 17 trailer hints at G.I. Joe and Nerf crossovers. Since both brands belong to Hasbro (and Overwatch has already teamed up with them for Transformers), it’s no surprise. So, expect to see Genji rocking a Snake Eyes skin sometime soon.

When Does Overwatch 2 Season 17 Start?

Mark your calendar! Overwatch 2 Season 17 launches June 24 at 2 p.m. EDT / 11 a.m. PDT and runs through August 26. Whether you’re in it for the skins, the chaos, or the competition, this season is shaping up to be a wild ride.
