PlatinumGames Turns MGS3’s Guy Savage Into a Dracula-Slaying, Castlevania-Style Nightmare

What Guy Savage was in the original
In the PlayStation 2-era Metal Gear Solid 3, the Guy Savage minigame could be accessed by loading a save file while Snake is in his cell in Groznyj Grad, after he had been tortured by Colonel Volgin. In that version, Snake’s nightmare sequence features a character using a pair of arm-blades to fight groups of monstrous police officers armed with hook swords.
What PlatinumGames changed
PlatinumGames, the developer behind Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, overhauled the minigame for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Footage of the remake shows a Castlevania-inspired, hack-and-slash presentation set in a graveyard. Moreover, the new sequence includes an encounter with Dracula, and the action looks aligned with PlatinumGames’ character-action style.
How the remake differs, briefly
Compared with the original prison-like setting, the remake places the combat in a creepy graveyard and swaps the hook-sword police for hordes of ghouls and a Dracula boss fight. Also, the gameplay shown emphasizes tighter, action-focused controls consistent with PlatinumGames’ prior work.
Release information
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater releases on Aug. 26, and it will be available on PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
