What changed

The Pokémon Company announced that Deluxe: ex cards will be counted in every applicable card dex. According to the announcement: “When you obtain a card that appears in multiple booster packs, it will be registered in the card dex for all corresponding booster packs.” In addition, the company said: “Cards you have already obtained, including any cards collected from Deluxe Pack: ex, will automatically be registered in every applicable card dex retroactively.”

How it will work

Previously, cards pulled from Deluxe: ex packs only registered in the Deluxe pack’s catalog. For example, a Mewtwo pulled from a Deluxe: ex pack did not show up in the Genetic Apex dex. With this update, those same pulls should appear in every relevant booster pack dex.

Timeline

The Pokémon Company said the retroactive registration will be implemented in summer 2026. That means the change is planned to arrive roughly eight to nine months after the announcement.

Community reaction

Players on social platforms responded to the announcement. One user wrote: “Thanks, but 8–9 months for a retroactive update?” Another user posted: “Even GTA 6 will be out by then!”

On the Pokémon TCG Pocket Reddit, many comments expressed surprise about the length of the wait. Examples from the thread included: “Why almost a year of wait for just a basic feature?” and “Its actually insane that it didn’t work like this in the 1st place,” reflecting the general sentiment in that community.

Availability and next steps

Deluxe: ex packs first appeared in September. Deluxe: ex A4B will be available until Oct. 30. The Pokémon Company said Deluxe: ex packs will vanish after that date, and that the format is expected to return at an unspecified point in the future.
