Support for PUBG: Battlegrounds on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is ending, the PUBG team announced Wednesday. The studio said the game will move fully to current-gen consoles — PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — and that the PS4 and Xbox One versions will shut down on Nov. 13.

Shutdown date and affected platforms
The official shutdown for the last-gen console versions is set for November 13. After that date, PUBG: Battlegrounds will no longer be supported on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Instead, the developer will focus on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S versions.
Why the move to current‑gen
According to the announcement, the transition is meant to “align PUBG Console with current‑gen consoles” and to provide “a more stable gameplay environment on console and ensure a smoother, more seamless experience with future updates.” The team added, “It weighs heavily on us to deliver this news to our console players who have enjoyed PUBG on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for so many years,” and said, “This was not a decision made lightly. It comes after long and careful consideration, in pursuit of the continued growth and long-term future of PUBG Console.”
What players can expect on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
Moving forward, the studio promises improved visuals and more stable frame rates. In particular, the team said it hopes to offer “a stable 60 fps experience across all platforms.” Additionally, the Xbox Series S build will include both Resolution Mode and Performance Mode. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions originally launched in November 2020.
Technical goals and player experience
Besides smoother performance, the developer expects reduced crash issues and a more consistent update process on current‑gen hardware. These are presented as practical reasons for ending last‑gen support rather than feature changes.
Refunds, timeline and history
The studio said refunds related to purchases will follow platform rules: “Refunds for Battlegrounds Plus and PUBG: Battlegrounds will be handled in accordance with each platform’s refund policy and procedures.” Note that PUBG: Battlegrounds went free‑to‑play in 2022, and the original PS4 and Xbox One releases date back roughly seven years to when the game was known as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.
