Ralph Fiennes Befriends a Giant Infected in Chilling First Trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple

The first trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is out, and it gives a clear look at Ralph Fiennes’ Dr. Kelson, a massive infected named Samson, and the human threats that remain in a Rage Virus–scarred U.K. The sequel was shot back-to-back with Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s 28 Years Later, and it’s set to reach theaters in January.
Trailer and key moments
The trailer opens with the short line, “Are you ready?” It then shows Dr. Kelson approaching a towering alpha infected called Samson, and it hints at an unusual bond between them.
Alongside those images, the trailer also introduces the Jimmies, a violent gang who wear creepy masks and terrorize other survivors. The clip establishes that the film will contrast the infected with human brutality.
Plot details revealed
The official description says Kelson “finds himself in a shocking new relationship – with consequences that could change the world as they know it.” Therefore, the trailer suggests Kelson may be trying to communicate or cooperate with Samson, rather than only fighting the infected.
Meanwhile, the Jimmies are shown as the human antagonists. The trailer also follows Spike, the young survivor from 28 Years Later, who appears to join the Jimmies reluctantly and adopts a blond wig to match their leader.
Cast and characters
Ralph Fiennes returns as Dr. Kelson. Chi Lewis-Parry plays the alpha infected Samson. Alfie Williams is back as Spike, and Jack O’Connell portrays Sir Jimmy Crystal, the Jimmies’ leader.
The trailer notes that Sir Jimmy Crystal’s look is modeled after the U.K. media personality Jimmy Savile, and it shows the Jimmies using masks and intimidation as their methods.
Release date and credits
