Rockstar has just given Red Dead Online a wild new twist! If you thought the American frontier couldn’t get any stranger, think again. The latest update, Strange Tales Of The West Vol. 1, brings zombies, robots, and all kinds of urban legends right into the heart of the game. Red Dead Online gets weird – and it’s awesome
Rockstar’s new content drop, Strange Tales Of The West Vol. 1, is packed with fresh missions and supernatural threats. According to Rockstar’s official announcement, you’ll be working with author Theodore Levin, who’s on the hunt for stories about the weirdest happenings in the West.
What’s new in the update?
There are four main Telegram Missions to check out:
- Strange Tales Of The Plague: Armadillo is overrun by zombies! Your job? Track down infected corpses for scientific study. But beware, it’s not just zombies—hostile cultists are also lurking around every corner.
- Strange Tales Of Modern Science: Robots are real, and they’re not friendly. Near Braithwaite Manor, mechanical creations are attacking anyone in sight. It’s up to you to uncover the truth and take them down.
- Strange Tales Of The Bayou: Something monstrous is swimming in the swamps of Lagras. Hunt down this creature for Theodore Levin, but stay alert—swamp folk don’t take kindly to strangers.
- Strange Tales Of The Wilderness: A missing scientist, a gang of murderers, and survival skills put to the test in Tall Trees. Can you find the scientist and outsmart his kidnappers?
How to start these Strange Tales missions?
It’s easy! Just grab Theodore Levin’s letter from your Camp Lockbox or any post office in-game. Open the letter from your satchel or launch the missions from the player menu. And here’s a bonus: you’ll earn triple Gold, RDO$, and XP on all Telegram Missions—including these new ones—until August 4. For more details, check out Rockstar’s latest blog post.
Why does this matter?
This is the first big update since Rockstar announced they were scaling back Red Dead Online support in 2022. By calling it “Vol. 1,” Rockstar is hinting at more supernatural adventures on the way. If you’ve been missing the chaos of Undead Nightmare from the original Red Dead Redemption, this is your sign to return.
