What to expect from Pokémon TCG Pocket Secluded Springs expansion

The preview for Secluded Springs highlights a handful of cards and several September events. Notably, Johto’s legendary trio returns as powerful ex cards, and there are supportive water types and utility bench Pokémon to help you set up combos.

Cards revealed so far

  • Raikou ex — Electric-type, 130 HP. Voltaic Bullet costs two Electric and hits for 60 to the active and 10 to one benched Pokémon.
  • Entei ex — Fire-type, 140 HP. Blazing Beatdown costs two Fire for 60, and it deals an additional 60 if the attacker has at least two more Fire energy attached.
  • Suicune ex — Water-type, 140 HP. Crystal Waltz costs two Water and deals 20 damage per benched Pokémon in play (both sides).
  • Slugma — Fire-type, 80 HP. Combustion costs two Fire and deals 40 damage.
  • Phanpy — Fighting-type, 70 HP. Flail costs one Fighting and deals damage equal to the amount already on the target.
  • Mantyke — Water-type, 30 HP. Splashy Toss costs one of any energy and lets you attach one Water energy from your energy zone to a benched Pokémon.
  • Milotic — Water-type, 120 HP. Aquatic Edge costs one Water and one of any type for 60 damage. It also has Healing Ripples, healing 60 damage from one Water Pokémon when you evolve into Milotic.
  • Latias — Psychic-type, 90 HP. Crossing Flights costs one Psychic and does 20 damage, plus 20 more if Latios is on your bench.
  • Latios — Psychic-type, 110 HP. Luster Purge costs three Psychic for 120 damage and removes all other energy from Latios; it also has an ability that removes retreat cost when Latias is in play.

Planned events and promos

The expansion launch is followed by three events in September. First, a promo pack event offers Promo Pack Series A Vol. 12 for participating in solo battles. Each pack can drop special promo cards — including Zoroark — though drop rates are typically low, so multiple battles will likely be needed to collect the promos you want.

Additionally, a Wonder Pick event featuring Miltank and Phanpy starts in mid-September and includes event quests that reward event shop tickets. Finally, near the end of September there will be a water-type mass outbreak that increases the chance of finding water Pokémon in picks and bonus picks.

If you want to prepare, focus on setting up water energy for Suicune and Milotic, and use Mantyke to speed up bench attachments. Otherwise, enjoy the new cards and the events when Secluded Springs goes live.
