Pokémon Go’s new event, Steel Skyline, runs from Sept. 30 through Oct. 7 and focuses on steel-type spawns. Most notably, Duraludon debuts in Max Battles and is available in shiny form at release; meanwhile, several global challenges will unlock small gameplay perks for everyone.

Pokémon Go ‘Steel Skyline’ event Timed Research and reward

The event includes both a free Timed Research and a paid premium Timed Research. The premium track is offered for $1.99. Each track is one step long and gives encounters and items when completed.

Free Timed Research (step 1 of 1)

  • Catch 15 Pokémon — 1,000 XP
  • Catch 5 steel-type Pokémon — 2,500 Stardust
  • Use 5 berries to help catch Pokémon — encounter: Klink
  • Make 3 curveball throws in a row — 3 Rare Candy
  • Win 2 Max Battles — encounter: Mawile
  • Power up Pokémon 5 times — 400 Max Particles
  • Evolve a Pokémon — 10 Poké Balls
  • Make 2 excellent throws — encounter: Galarian Meowth

Global challenges and event perks

Several global challenges will run during Steel Skyline. As groups of players complete those targets, Niantic will unlock event-wide perks. For example, players can earn:
