Solosis Community Day: How to Snag Shiny Solosis, Teach Charm to Reuniclus & Max Rewards (Oct. 12)

Pokémon Go is holding a Solosis Community Day on Sunday, Oct. 12. The main spawn window runs from 2–5 p.m. local time, and there’s a separate evolution window as well. Read on for the exact shiny odds, moves, meta notes, and event bonuses so you know what to expect.

How do I catch a shiny Solosis?

Community Day events generally give a much higher shiny rate for the featured Pokémon. According to past research from the now-defunct site The Silph Road (archived), Community Day shiny rates are about 1 in 24 on average, so you should encounter multiple shinies if you play through the three-hour spawn window.

If you’re short on time or Poké Balls, you can use Incense, then tap each Solosis quickly to check if it’s shiny and run from the ones that aren’t. Additionally, once you tap a Solosis it will face your player avatar, which helps keep track of which ones you’ve already checked.

For reference, the archived research can be found on this Wayback Machine page of The Silph Road.

What Community Day move does Solosis’ evolution learn?

If you evolve Duosion into Reuniclus during the extended evolution window on Oct. 12 from 2–9 p.m. local time, Reuniclus will learn the fast move Charm. If you miss that window, Niantic typically offers another chance during a later Community Day weekend, and you can also use an Elite TM to teach Charm at any time.

How does Reuniclus do in the meta?

Objectively, Reuniclus is not a top performer. It is generally not strong in raids, gyms, or PvP, so it’s usually not worth powering up for competitive play. That said, it remains a valid collector’s pick if you like the design.

How do I make the most of Solosis Community Day?

The event includes a number of straightforward bonuses. In short, they help with stardust, XP, candy, and trading:

  • Tripled Stardust for catching Pokémon
  • Doubled XP for catching Pokémon — this stacks with any active XP Celebration bonuses
  • Doubled Candy for catching Pokémon
  • Doubled chance for level 31+ trainers to get XL Candy from catches
  • Incense lasts three hours
  • Lure Modules last one hour
  • Solosis will special photobomb snapshots
  • One additional special trade allowed
  • Stardust cost for trading is halved

Moreover, there is a specific Mega-Evolution benefit: if you have a Mega-Evolved partner from the following list active while catching Solosis, you will earn additional Solosis Candy per catch. Those Mega Pokémon are Alakazam, Slowbro, Gardevoir, Medicham, Metagross, Latios, Latias, Rayquaza, and Gallade.

Note that this Community Day does not include the usual “Community Day Continued” Timed Research. Instead, starting at 2–9 p.m. local time, Solosis will spawn heavily at Lure Modules. Those lure-spawned Solosis have a higher chance to be shiny and may display a special background.

Finally, while not mandatory, many players pair a Stardust boost, a Lucky Egg (for extra XP), and Incense to maximize gains during the event window.
