What Waze added

Waze announced the Sonic voice option on its official Twitter account. The company opened the announcement with the phrase “Are you ready to be unstoppable!?!” and confirmed Sonic will be available as a navigation voice in English and French. According to a Google Blog post, the voice includes lines such as “All right! Let’s roll! Keep your eyes on the road. Never know when a loop-de-loop or spike trap will be in the way!”

How to use the Sonic voice

Waze users can pick Sonic as their navigation voice from the app’s voice settings. In addition, the voice is available in two languages: English and French. The Google Blog post provides the announcement details and examples of the voice lines.

Map appearance and car icons

Alongside the voice, Waze lets drivers change their map icon to Sonic-themed cars. Available icons include vehicles from Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and Speedster Lightning. Users can also set their mood in the app to Energetic, which ties into the Sonic-themed options.

35th anniversary and future announcements

The Waze collaboration is part of Sonic’s lead-up to the franchise’s 35th anniversary. Furthermore, the press release teased that “fans can expect even more exciting announcements over the next year,” according to the Google Blog post linked above.
