Sothis Returns in Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave — Is Three Houses’ Fodlan Coming Back?

Nintendo showed off the next Fire Emblem today: Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. The trailer arrived during a Nintendo Direct, and it gives a clear look at the game’s themes, a few gameplay beats, and one familiar face from Fire Emblem: Three Houses.

Trailer highlights

The trailer for Fortune’s Weave shows the game leaning into classic Fire Emblem themes: a large-scale conflict, units on the battlefield, and turn-based combat. Additionally, the reveal introduces an arena-style event called the Heroic Games, where fighters compete in a Colosseum-like setting.

We also see demonic beasts and unusual weapons that appear to contain crest-like stones. Moreover, the trailer gives a short look at the series’ traditional grid-based combat.

Familiar elements — and Sothis

The trailer includes visual touches that strongly echo Fire Emblem: Three Houses. For example, there are demonic creatures and what look like weapons with embedded stones similar to the series’ previous *crest* mechanics. Those elements were key in Three Houses, so their presence here is notable.

Most strikingly, the final moments of the trailer focus on Sothis. Through a blurred POV shot we see a nameless figure looking up at a throne. Then Sothis speaks: “The years were long, weren’t they?” She moves off the throne and adds, “Have you forgotten me so soon?”

What we don’t know yet

At this stage, Nintendo and Intelligent Systems have not confirmed whether Fortune’s Weave is set in Fodlan, or whether it takes place before, during, or after the events of Three Houses. Therefore, any timeline connections remain unconfirmed.

Likewise, developer details about gameplay depth, cast, and how the Heroic Games fit into the larger story have not been released. For now, we only have the trailer footage and the publisher’s brief reveal.

Release info

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is confirmed as a Nintendo Switch exclusive and is scheduled for release sometime in 2026.
