Spider-Man Figures with Matching Magic Cards
Hasbro gave a sneak peek of three figures from the Marvel Legends Magic: The Gathering series. First, Battle-Damaged Spider-Man features an alternate unmasked head and multiple hand poses, including web-shooting and wall-crawling. This figure is inspired by the Spectacular Spider-Man legendary creature card, which can fly or be sacrificed to protect other creatures.
Next up is Mary Jane Watson wearing the Iron Spider suit designed by Tony Stark. This articulated figure includes different faces (masked and unmasked) and web-shooting hands. It comes with the Iron Spider, Stark Upgrade card—a legendary artifact creature with Vigilance that can boost creatures and vehicles with +1/+1 counters and even help draw cards.
Finally, the figure of Man-Wolf—Colonel John Jameson, son of J. Jonah Jameson—comes armed with a bow, arrows, and the sword Stargod. His card is a special version of the werewolf Ravager of the Fells from Magic’s 2012 Dark Ascension set.
More Marvel Magic: The Gathering Details
Hasbro previously revealed an Agent Anti-Venom figure paired with an Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer card. This legendary symbiote fits mono-White decks and can return creatures to the battlefield while converting damage into +1/+1 counters.
Wizards of the Coast is making it easier for Marvel fans to jump into Magic: The Gathering with the upcoming Spider-Man set launching on September 26. It will include five Welcome Decks designed for beginners. Unlike the Magic: The Gathering Foundations set from last year, some cards in these decks won’t be Standard-legal, resembling the approach taken in Magic’s Portal sets. Additionally, stores will host Magic Academy events to teach players the game rules.
