Release timing
Barone followed up in the same post to clarify that he did not provide a release date or any estimate for 1.7. In short, there is a confirmation of the update, but no timeline.
Relation to Haunted Chocolatier
When asked if the 1.7 update would affect the development of Haunted Chocolatier, Barone replied that it was not his plan for the Stardew update to hinder work on the new game.

Stardew Valley 1.6 brought a large set of changes. Specifically, it included bug fixes and item updates, new festivals and events like the Squid Festival and Trout Derby, the mastery system to further upgrade skills, options for more pets, and the ability to obtain a turtle.

At this stage, only the announcement that 1.7 exists is confirmed. No feature list, release window, or detailed plans for the update have been shared yet.
