Three SNES classics have arrived on Nintendo Switch Online today, highlighted by a Japan-only Mario title and joined by a 1990s platformer and a Neo Geo fighter. Below you’ll find the facts about each release, how to play them on current Switch hardware, and where to get the service.

  1. Mario & Wario
  2. Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind
  3. Fatal Fury Special
  4. How to play and subscription details

Mario & Wario

Mario & Wario is a puzzle-platformer originally released for the SNES in 1993 and, importantly, it was only available in Japan at launch. Instead of controlling Mario directly, players use the Super NES Mouse to move a fairy named Wanda, who guides Mario through levels while he wanders blind with a bucket stuck on his head.

There are 100 levels, simple controls aside, and the game was built around mouse input. Consequently, on modern hardware you’ll need a pointing device: Switch 2 users can use their Joy‑Con as a mouse, while original Switch owners must plug in a USB mouse to play.

Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind

Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind also debuted in 1993 and was released outside Japan. It’s the first Bubsy game and plays as a side-scrolling platformer. In it, the bobcat protagonist collects and protects yarn balls from alien invaders across a variety of stages.

Fatal Fury Special

Fatal Fury Special is an updated version of Fatal Fury 2. It adds more playable characters from the series’ roster and includes a secret boss character, giving the fighting game extra depth compared to the original release.

How to play and subscription details

A library of classic Nintendo games from the NES, SNES, and Game Boy eras is available via Nintendo Switch Online. The base service costs $19.99 a year and includes online play and other features. For a wider classic library — including GameCube and Game Boy Advance titles — the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier is available for $49.99 a year.

All three games are available now on the service. If you want to play Mario & Wario, check your controller setup first because the title was designed for mouse input.
