Survey Shows Dozens of Pokémon Have No Fans — Mimikyu Tops the List

A wide online poll updated this year tested the old saying that “every Pokémon is someone’s favorite.” The survey gathered votes from many platforms and counted which Pokémon got no support, plus which came out on top in popularity.

Survey background

The idea of checking whether every Pokémon is someone’s favorite first appeared online about six years ago, when Reddit user mamamia1001 polled roughly 52,000 people. At that time there were a little over 800 Pokémon, and four had received zero votes: Silcoon, Gothita, Eelektrik, and Yungoos.

More recently, YouTuber Jawny Sparklez ran an updated survey that covered all current Pokémon and their variants, and collected votes across platforms including TikTok and X. The updated effort reached millions of people and allowed fans to keep voting after the initial results were posted.

Other findings and notes

The updated poll included variant forms (for example, different Rotom appliances), which broadened options. As a result, some Pokémon received very few votes — including dozens that had just a single supporter.

Broken down by type, the top picks were: Scizor (Bug), Umbreon (Dark), Garchomp (Dragon and Ground), Luxray (Electric), Mimikyu (Fairy and Ghost), Lucario (Fighting and Steel), Arcanine (Fire), Charizard (Flying), Bulbasaur (Grass), Glaceon (Ice), Eevee (Normal), Gengar (Poison), Espeon (Psychic), Tyranitar (Rock) and Greninja (Water).

The survey was posted before the release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A, so it does not include forms or variants introduced in that game. Nearly 1,000 new votes were added after the main results were shared, and the survey creator said they plan to keep the poll active to track future changes.

Quotes from the surveyor

Jawny commented on some results, including this reaction to earlier low-vote entries: “Not sure [if] those were faithful answers, but hey, it is what it is!”

Reflecting on why some picks ranked high, Jawny mused: “Maybe a correlation [between] how many people may relate to it and feel like they are out of place needing to fit in?”

About keeping the survey live and watching for changes, Jawny wrote: ” I am keeping the survey for a long time so we can see if data changes in the future,”
