Giles shared, “Going into Sanctuary, I wanted to give my fellow Bad Batch fans the feeling of an extended bonus episode where our favorite characters got exciting moments that felt fresh and familiar. I wanted it to feel like seeing old friends after some time apart amid an intense adventure.”
Undercover at a High-Roller Auction
The novel’s excerpt throws us right into an intense scene: Tech and the pirate Phee go undercover at a high-stakes auction to “liberate” a valuable artifact. Their goal? To return it to its home planet and earn a reward that will help the island of Pabu. However, things quickly spiral as they face unexpected competition from a mysterious Muun who turns out to be an auction house “spiker,” artificially driving up bids to increase commissions.
“The Muun isn’t a guest. He’s an auction house employee identified as an assurance contractor.” Tech explains, revealing the challenges they’ll face trying to win the auction. With bids climbing fast and their droid MEL-222’s automation routines causing trouble, the team must adapt on the fly to pull off their mission.
