They’re Back — Tales of Xillia Remastered Arrives Oct. 30, 2025 on Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC

Bandai Namco is remastering Tales of Xillia, bringing Jude Mathis and Milla Maxwell back to modern platforms on Oct. 30, 2025.

    • What the remaster includes, platforms and release date.
    • Origins of the original game and its key features, like dual protagonist routes and skits.
    • Where this fits in the wider Tales remaster project.

What’s coming

Tales of Xillia Remastered will launch on Oct. 30, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC via Steam. The remaster follows earlier entries in the series that received modern updates, and it joins titles such as Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition and Tales of Graces f Remastered in Bandai Namco’s ongoing effort to refresh older Tales games for current platforms.

Original game background

The original Tales of Xillia first released in Japan in 2011, and then in North America and Europe in 2013 for the PS3. The story centers on protagonists Jude Mathis and Milla Maxwell, who are forced to team up after sabotaging a weapon called the Lance of Kresnik. Unlike many JRPGs of its era, the game allowed players to choose which protagonist’s route to follow, changing the perspective and some story beats.

Additionally, the game features the series’ signature skit system, short talking-head conversations that expand character interactions and personality. These skits are a notable part of why fans remember Xillia fondly.

Context and what this means

Earlier remasters in the franchise include Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition, released on modern consoles in 2019, and Tales of Graces f Remastered, which arrived earlier this year. Consequently, this Xillia remaster continues a clear pattern: Bandai Namco is steadily updating classic Tales titles for new hardware.

That said, the announced remaster appears to focus on platform and technical updates rather than major story changes. However, fans may still hope for tweaks or additions, and many will be curious whether Tales of Xillia 2 will receive a similar treatment in future announcements.
