This Robot Gambles with Eldritch Artifacts — Meet C4SH, Borderlands 4’s New Vault Hunter (Coming Early 2026)

Gearbox has officially introduced Borderlands 4’s newest Vault Hunter, a robotic drifter named C4SH. The studio released a short concept trailer and shared basic details about his background, playstyle, and when players can expect him to arrive.
Meet C4SH
C4SH is a robotic cowboy who used to work as a dealer bot at a casino. In Gearbox’s blog notes, the studio says he’s now a drifter obsessed with chasing “the probability-breaking highs of cursed eldritch artifacts,” which helps explain his gamble-focused identity. The game’s brief introduction trailer only shows off concept art; Gearbox has not yet shared C4SH’s in-game model.
Action Skills and playstyle
C4SH will join the roster alongside Amon, Harlowe, Rafa, and Vex, and—like other Vault Hunters—he’ll have three character-exclusive Action Skills and three branching skill trees. Gearbox has kept the exact mechanics under wraps so far, but the studio did give two clear points:
- Unpredictable abilities: “C4SH’s Action Skills are distinctly unpredictable, as they all involve an element of chance,” said Gearbox.
- Risk and reward: “C4SH’s risk-reward playstyle can lead to good fortunes like buffing himself and allies, dealing devastating damage, sapping the strength from foes, and more.”
Therefore, while specifics are pending, the emphasis is on chance-based effects that can produce both strong benefits and high-risk outcomes.
DLC, editions and release window
C4SH is slated to arrive with the first paid story pack, Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned. Gearbox says this pack is the first of two Story Packs planned after launch. Although the studio hasn’t provided exact dates, the pack is currently scheduled for release sometime in early 2026.
All post-launch content will be included in the Borderlands 4 Super Deluxe Edition. Alternatively, players can purchase each story pack individually, or buy them together as the Vault Hunter Pack.
That’s everything confirmed so far: a casino-born robot, chance-driven Action Skills, and a release window tied to the Mad Ellie story pack in early 2026. Gearbox plans to reveal full ability details closer to the DLC’s launch.
