This Weekend Only: Teach Frenzy Plant, Hydro Cannon & Blast Burn in Pokémon Go’s Legends: Z‑A Event (Oct 16–20)
Pokémon Go is running a short “Pokémon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event” from Oct. 16–20 to coincide with the launch of Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It’s a compact event with a few focused perks: legacy moves for the Gen II starters when evolved, a small timed research line tied to a starter pick, and more frequent Mega raids.

Overview
The event runs from Oct. 16 to Oct. 20. During that window, evolving the Gen II starters’ middle forms into their final forms will teach them their *legacy* signature moves: evolve Bayleef into Meganium for Frenzy Plant, Croconaw into Feraligatr for Hydro Cannon, and Pignite into Emboar for Blast Burn. Additionally, Charged TMs can roll these moves on those Pokémon only while the event is active if you already evolved them earlier. Mega raids will also appear more frequently during the event period.

At the start of the timed research, you choose one of the three Gen II starters: Chikorita, Totodile, or Tepig. That choice determines the tasks you receive (they focus on that starter’s type and evolutions), grants candy for that Pokémon, and awards a special background encounter of the chosen starter. Also, the Pokémon you pick will be more likely to appear in your Daily Adventure Incense during the event.

- Use 25,000 Stardust (50 Chikorita/Totodile/Tepig Candy)
- Rewards: 6,000 XP, 10 Poké Balls

- Earn 12 hearts with your buddy (3 Pinap Berries)

During the event, the following Pokémon will appear more often when you use an Incense:
