How to enter The Mist in Hollow Knight: Silksong

First, make sure you have Cling Grip (wall jump) to reach the area and Needolin to escape it. The Mist sits in the northwestern part of Sinner’s Road, and the common approach is to leave Greymoor through the northeast exit above Halfway Home. For a visual reference, check the interactive Silksong map.

Follow Sinner’s Road east until you find a large vertical chamber with a bench marker. Then, exit through the ceiling opening and turn left. At the end of that path, break the destructible wall in the top-left corner to enter The Mist. If you prefer to set a checkpoint first, take the left exit in the vertical chamber halfway through — the bench is broken, but you can fix it by doing a short parkour run that starts in the upper-left behind a breakable wall.

How to get through The Mist in Hollow Knight: Silksong

The Mist is made of randomized rooms, so running blindly will loop you back to similar chambers. Instead, you must play the Needolin next to the small white wisps in each chamber. After a few seconds of playing, the wisps will fly away — follow them.

Repeat this process across about four chambers. Each time, the wisps point the way toward the next exit. Although there are several wisps in a room, you only need to play the Needolin near the correct cluster and then follow their movement.

Watch out for these hazards

  • Wraiths — they screech and lunge. Their detection range is limited, so you can often avoid them, but if one attacks, wait for the lunge and pogo over it. You can also defeat them normally.
  • Bear traps — check the ground while running; traps are placed on floors.
  • Falling — visibility is reduced in The Mist, so confirm there’s solid ground before you drop. Falling through the bottom of a room forces a restart from the beginning of the area.

What you get after escaping

Once you exit The Mist, you gain access to the Exhaust Organ. There you’ll encounter the Phantom boss and find a shortcut to the Grand Bellway station. These connections make the area useful for both exploration and faster travel.
