Release date and announcement
The release date was revealed during the Galaxies Gaming Showcase, a little over a year after the game was first announced. The studio confirmed the game will launch on March 19, 2026 across multiple platforms, including both Nintendo Switch models, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
Who made it and who’s in it
Mouse: P.I. For Hire is the debut title from indie developer Fumi Games. It will be published by PlaySide Studios, a company known for titles such as Kill Knight and the upcoming Game of Thrones: War for Westeros. Voice actor Troy Baker is confirmed to play the protagonist, Jack Pepper.
Setting and objectives
The game is set in the town of Mouseburg. According to the press release, players “must unravel a complex web of intrigue, with corruption, kidnapping and murder all on the docket,” and will control private investigator Jack Pepper as they work through that mystery.
Gameplay features and weapons
Developers describe the title as a noir-flavored shooter with a cartoon-inspired twist to its armory. A producer-led video refers to certain offerings as “experimental weapons.” These include more conventional items like a freeze gun, alongside unusual tools such as a toxic turpentine gun that dissolves enemies and a special ray described as a “lethal form of mind control.”
Overall, the full arsenal will contain over a dozen weapon options for players to try.
Levels, progression and traversal
The game features 20 levels of combat. In addition, the press materials mention unlockable movement abilities and Metroidvania-inspired level traversal, which suggests players will gain new movement options to revisit and explore previously seen areas.
Trailers and deep dive
The initial reveal was accompanied by a showcase trailer during the event. You can watch the showcase video here:
Separately, lead producer Maciek Krzemien published a detailed breakdown of the game’s weapons and systems; that deep dive goes into the “experimental weapons” and how they function in combat.
That’s the confirmed information so far. Expect the game on March 19, 2026, and more details to appear as the release approaches.
