August’s Free PS Plus Games Bring Variety and Action
PlayStation Plus is kicking off August 2025 with a strong lineup of free games for Essential subscribers. The highlight? Lies of P, a fresh Soulslike action-adventure that’s been turning heads since its 2023 release. Alongside it, you’ll find the intense survival experience of DayZ and the fast-paced arena fighting of My Hero One’s Justice 2. All three games become available on August 5, giving players plenty to dive into before September rolls around.

Lies of P: A Unique Take on Soulslike
Developed by NeoWiz, Lies of P invites players to explore the eerie city of Krat during the Belle Époque era. You play as P, a puppet searching for his missing creator, but what awaits is a twisted world filled with madness and deadly puppets. Critics have praised the game for “breathing new life into an overcrowded genre”, making it a must-try for fans of challenging action games. Lies of P is available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 through PS Plus.
Survive or Fight: DayZ and My Hero One’s Justice 2
If survival horror is more your style, DayZ offers a tense multiplayer experience where you must navigate a post-apocalyptic world full of infected zombies and hostile survivors. Originally launched on consoles in 2019, this game will be available on PS4 for PS Plus subscribers.
On the other end of the spectrum, My Hero One’s Justice 2 brings the colorful world of the My Hero Academia manga to life with fast-paced 3D arena battles. It’s a great pick for fans of fighting games and anime alike and will also be available on PS4.

These August games will be downloadable until September 2, 2025, so make sure to grab them before then. Plus, if you haven’t yet picked up July’s PS Plus games — Diablo 4, The King of Fighters 15, and Jusant — you still have until August 4 to claim them.
