How to get Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta in Pokémon Go
Let’s cut to the chase. To evolve Zacian or Zamazenta into their Crowned forms, you need a few key things:
- A Zacian or Zamazenta that knows Iron Head
- 1,000 Crowned Sword Energy (for Zacian) or 1,000 Crowned Shield Energy (for Zamazenta)
- 30 Zacian or Zamazenta Candy
Once you’ve got all that, just hit the “change form” button on your Pokémon’s info screen. If your Zacian or Zamazenta knows Iron Head, it will automatically learn its signature move—Behemoth Blade for Zacian, Behemoth Bash for Zamazenta.
Where to get Crowned Energy
You’ll need to raid! Zamazenta raids are live on Saturday, June 28 and Zacian raids on Sunday, June 29. Defeat them to get their respective Crowned Energy. There’s also a way to grab a handful of energy by redeeming some special codes—so keep an eye out for those!
If you’re playing during Pokémon Go Fest Global 2025 and have a ticket, the Special Research will give you enough energy to upgrade either Zacian or Zamazenta, depending on your branching choice.
Adventure Effects for Crowned Zacian & Zamazenta
The real fun starts when you use these Legendaries in battle. Both have Adventure Effects that boost your team for a limited time:
- Crowned Sword Zacian (with Behemoth Blade): Increases your Pokémon’s attack in raids and Max Battles for 6 minutes.
- Crowned Shield Zamazenta (with Behemoth Bash): Increases your Pokémon’s defense in raids and Max Battles for 6 minutes.
And here’s the nitty-gritty: According to datamines (source), Behemoth Blade boosts attack by 10% in raids and 5% in Max Battles. Behemoth Bash does the same for defense.
Activating these effects costs 5,000 Stardust and 5 Candy. You can extend the timer up to 24 hours by spending more resources.
Can you swap back to the original form?
Absolutely! Once you’ve transformed Zacian or Zamazenta, you can freely switch them back to their Hero of Many Battles form—no extra energy cost. There’s not much reason to go back, though, since the Crowned forms are just flat-out stronger. Still, the option’s there if you want it.
Shiny forms and other details
Here’s the good news: Both Zacian and Zamazenta can be shiny! And yes, you can use these Crowned forms in Max Battles, even though they’re not Dynamax or Gigantamax Pokémon.
Just a heads-up: You can only have one Adventure Effect active at a time. That means you can’t stack Zacian’s and Zamazenta’s effects, or combine them with White Kyurem or Origin Forme Dialga.
Also, Crowned Sword Zacian and Crowned Shield Zamazenta can’t be sent to Pokémon Home. If you want to transfer them, you’ll need to revert them to their Hero of Many Battles forms first.
