Starting Your Search: Top of the Heap and Early Finds

Before digging down from the Landfill Layer’s starting point, climb the walls to spot a banana perched on a protruding metal piece. Keep shimmying along until you reach it. After beating Blusterwing in the Tempest Layer, drop into the hole nearby to grab another banana cluster.

One special post-game banana is hidden behind a potted plant that needs sunlight. Dig a tunnel from above to let the sun in, or use Elephant Bananza to clear terrain quickly. Once the plant blooms, talk to it for your reward.

Exploring the Mazy-Cave and Maze Challenges

The Mazy Cave is a fun maze puzzle where you’ll pop five banana balloons. Use Kong or Elephant Bananza to suck up terrain and find dead ends quickly. Hidden rooms and buried bananas await those who break through concrete walls or climb over metal barriers.

One buried banana lies near bombs—set them off carefully to reveal your prize. Another gem moves up and down in a separate tunnel; dig over and break it free. Nearby, a challenge course starts behind a fossil wall—smash through and complete the digging challenge while avoiding lava to claim the banana.

Using Elephant Bananza and Completing Challenge Courses

Find the entrance to the Elephant Bananza: City Smash challenge near Banandium Gems #8 and #9. Completing this challenge rewards you with a banana, and finishing with 20+ seconds left grants an extra one. You’ll need to use a boom rock chunk to break concrete barriers for some bananas.

Another battle challenge requires defeating three crockoids with different Bananza powers: Elephant, Kong, and regular Donkey Kong. Remember, you can switch between Bananzas anytime using the D-pad.

Hidden Bananas and Unique Challenges

Look behind signs and metal pipes to find caged bananas, and clear serpent-like enemies with Elephant Bananza to free them. Reuniting Fragmentone and its fragments hidden among lava pools also nets you a banana. Keep an eye out for Cranky Kong’s rant in Trashtopia for a hidden treat.

After smashing a whopping 70,000 cubic meters of dirt, chat with Smashintone above the shops for a banana reward. Some bananas are hidden behind walls or require following Fractone trails through dirt walls to secret treasure rooms.

Speed and Delivery Challenges

Near the hub town, pay the Constructone 1,000 gold to open a challenge where you punch through terrain to clear ice cubes. Completing it within the time limit earns a banana, and finishing with 30+ seconds left grants another.

Fill the shaved ice bowl, then dig beneath it to find a hidden banana on a metal floor. For explosive excavation, pay 600 gold to unlock the challenge and use boom rocks and Kong Bananza to clear enemies quickly.

Final Bananas and Trading

Use DK’s Hand Slap sonar to spot a banana beneath the clothing shop and dig down to claim it. You can also trade Banandium Chips and gold for bananas—the more you’ve traded before, the pricier the deal. Just one trade is enough to complete this layer.
