Finding the Nostalgia Country Ancient Ruin

The Nostalgia Country Ancient Ruin is tucked away in the Hilltop Layer of Donkey Kong Bananza. As you move through the story, you’ll come across some debris blocking a hole. Pay to clear it, and the entrance to this throwback level will open up at the bottom. It’s a neat way to revisit the classic Donkey Kong Country vibe inside a fresh game world.

Where to Find All Banandium Gems

There are three Banandium Gems hidden in Nostalgia Country, and you’ll want to grab all of them to complete the challenge. Two of these golden bananas are pretty straightforward: one appears about halfway through the level, and the other is waiting at the very end. But the real challenge is the first gem, which is hidden right at the start.

How to Reach the First Banandium Gem

Right after entering the Ancient Ruin, look up at the wall above the entrance. This spot is out of reach with normal jumps, but you can get there with a chunk jump. To do this, grab some dirt below you using the ZR button, then jump while in mid-air to launch yourself higher. If that’s tricky, try a running start or pick up the circular rock dropped by an enemy nearby to boost your jump.

Once you’re on top of the wall, you’ll find a familiar sight: the iconic Donkey Kong Country house. Inside, hidden among the decorations, is the first Banandium Gem. Jump onto the tire in the middle of the room and punch upwards by pressing X when you’re right below the banana to break it and claim your prize.

The Other Two Banandium Gems

The remaining two gems are easier to spot. The second gem is just after the first barrel section, and the third appears after the second barrel section. You can’t miss these as you progress, so just keep your eyes open and your timing sharp.
