Get ready, Trainers! The Ultra Unlock: Steel and Scales event is live from July 22 to July 27 in Pokémon Go, bringing tons of Stardust, XP bonuses, and exciting new Pokémon to catch. This event is the second Ultra Unlock after Go Fest and comes packed with fresh challenges and shiny opportunities you won’t want to miss.

Meet Honedge and Shiny Rookies

One of the biggest draws of this event is the debut of Honedge, the steel- and ghost-type sword Pokémon making its first appearance. Plus, shiny Bagon, Beldum, and Unown U are more likely to appear, giving shiny hunters a great reason to get out there. Rookidee also shines for the first time during this event, just before its fan-favorite Community Day on August 30. Don’t stress if you miss the shiny Rookidee now—you’ll have another shot soon enough!

XP and Stardust Bonanza

Catch Pokémon to enjoy quadrupled XP and Stardust, making it an ideal time to level up and stockpile resources. Whether you’re spinning PokéStops or raiding, the rewards are sweet and plentiful.

Collection Challenges to Complete

There are four exciting Collection Challenges to tackle during the event. Each offers solid rewards including XP, Stardust, and special encounters:

Steel and Scales Challenge: Rookidee – Catch and evolve Rookidee into Corviknight for 2,000 XP, 1,500 Stardust, and a Rookidee encounter.
Steel and Scales Challenge: Dratini – Catch and evolve Dratini into Dragonite for similar rewards plus a Dratini encounter.
Steel and Scales Challenge: Beldum – Catch and evolve Beldum into Metagross with the same XP and Stardust rewards plus a Beldum encounter.
Steel and Scales Challenge: Bagon – Catch and evolve Bagon into Salamence, earning 2,000 XP, 1,500 Stardust, and a Bagon encounter.

Field Research Tasks & Rewards

Spinning PokéStops during the event can reward you with Field Research tasks such as:

Catch 5 Pokémon (reward: 1,000 XP or 500 Stardust)
Catch 10 Pokémon (reward: encounter with Bagon or Beldum)
Catch 20 Pokémon (reward: encounter with Bronzor or Gible)
Win a raid (reward: encounter with Goomy, Jangmo-o, or Frigibax)
