Want an Early Legendary? Make the Town Hall Statue Drop the Breslau Blade in Dying Light: The Beast

The Breslau Blade — often called the “statue sword” — is a one-handed legendary machete you can get early in Dying Light: The Beast by making the Town Hall statue drop its sword. To do that, you must destroy nine decorative beaver crests scattered around Town Hall Square, then interact with the statue’s plate to claim the weapon and its blueprint.

How to get the statue sword

First, find the statue on the north side of Town Hall Square. Then, destroy all nine beaver crests hidden around the square. After that, interact with the statue plate and the sword will fall for you to pick up. It’s straightforward, though some crests are out of reach and require a ranged weapon or platforming to hit.

Crest locations around Town Hall Square

First three crests

Stand facing the statue. You’ll see one crest on the statue itself, plus one on each side of the nearby yellow building. These are the easiest to spot and usually the easiest to break.

Next four crests

Turn so your back is to the statue and look toward the Town Hall. There’s another crest on the statue, one on the Town Hall’s lower wall, one above the main entrance, and one high up on the building’s façade. That high one is the hardest to reach; however, you can often get to it by using nearby objects as stepping stones.

Final two crests

With the statue behind you, check the southwest corner wall and the small bridge house — each hides one of the last crests. Once those two are down, no beaver crests remain around the square.

How to destroy the crests

Most crests are out of easy melee range. Therefore, bring a ranged weapon like a crossbow or a gun, or find a high vantage point to hit them. In practice, you’ll typically need two or three melee hits, two crossbow hits, or one shotgun blast to break a crest. Be careful: loud shots will attract volatile zombies, so plan for a fight or use quieter options when possible. If you lack a long-range weapon, use the tour car with the red roof to jump up adjacent buildings and climb to the higher ledges.

Claiming the Breslau Blade

After you destroy all nine crests, interact with the statue’s plate that reads “Castor Woods, Undefeated Fighter”. Fireworks will go off, then you can climb the statue and take the Breslau Blade. Additionally, picking it up unlocks the blueprint so you can craft more of the weapon at a workshop.
