Meet Uriel and the Devil’s Triad
At TennoCon, Digital Extremes unveiled Uriel, a towering figure with black armor cracked open to reveal hellfire underneath, complete with a long, pointed tail. This fiery new Warframe will star in a side story tied to the mysterious character Albrecht Entrati and some Orokin guilt, according to creative director Rebecca Ford.
Uriel isn’t alone. Alongside him come two new Protoframes: Harrow and Wisp. Protoframes are essentially human versions of existing Warframes, introduced back in the December 2024 expansion. Harrow’s human form is Father Lyon Allard, a gothic priest-like figure, while Wisp’s is Marie Leroux, a nun-like character with bright yellow eyes.
Harrow and Wisp: The Human Side of Warframes
Harrow is known for his religious imagery — he wields a thurible (an incense burner) and even uses self-flagellation to boost his combat abilities. His Protoframe, Father Lyon Allard, sports leathery armor with a goth vibe. On the other hand, Wisp is an ethereal, floating figure inspired by will-o’-wisps from folklore, mysterious lights that lure travelers to danger. Marie Leroux, Wisp’s Protoframe, looks like a beautiful but potentially troublesome nun.
The Story Behind the Update
Rebecca Ford referred to Uriel, Harrow, and Wisp collectively as the “Devil’s Triad.” While the full story details remain under wraps, it’s linked to the Entrati family’s Orokin past and their hidden guilt. This adds a darker, more complex layer to Warframe’s ever-expanding universe.
Uriel holds special meaning for the team as the last Warframe worked on by the late developer Mike Brennan, who passed away in 2024. “There’s a lot of emotion tied into that frame,” Ford shared, highlighting the personal significance behind this update.
What’s Next?
Fans eager to learn more about the Devil’s Triad and the upcoming content can look forward to Digital Extremes’ October devstream, where more details will be revealed. This update not only adds new characters but also deepens the lore and expands the Warframe universe in exciting ways.
