Watch Krypto Run Wild: Superman’s Super‑Dog Wrecks a School Bus in New 5‑Minute YouTube Short

Superman’s dog Krypto is the star of a new set of animated shorts that tie into James Gunn’s Superman, and the first episode is already online for anyone to watch. The short is playful and quiet, showing Krypto causing chaos across Metropolis while using a full range of Kryptonian powers. It will also appear as a special feature on the film’s home releases.

  • What the available short shows and how long it is.
  • When the film’s home editions arrive, and which extras are included.
  • Plans for the remaining three shorts and their basic premises.

First short: what to expect

The first of four animated shorts is called “School Bus Scuffle.” It is a silent, roughly 5-minute cartoon in which Krypto bursts through Clark Kent’s apartment wall to chase a pigeon across Metropolis. As a result, a very fast-thinking school bus driver has to react to a string of escalating problems. Krypto uses powers like heat vision and cold breath during the chase, but the pigeon ultimately gets away.

Release details

The shorts will be included as a special feature with the home editions of James Gunn’s Superman. The movie hits digital on Aug. 15, and the physical release arrives Sept. 23. Meanwhile, the first Krypto short is available to stream now on YouTube.

How the shorts will be released

According to the release plan, the rest of the goofy, kid-friendly episodes will be put on YouTube one by one through 2026. The upcoming titles and basic premises are listed below.

Other episodes (brief)

  • “Halloween Havoc” — Krypto deals with a candy crisis.
  • “Package Pandemonium” — Krypto helps build a snowman.
  • “Coastal Catastrophe” — Krypto saves a spring break cruise ship.

Additional details

The shorts are described as goofy and kid-friendly. Also, the first episode includes a recurring bit where Krypto gets distracted scratching himself; apparently Kryptonian dogs can still get fleas. The shorts will serve both as standalone clips on YouTube and as extras bundled with the film’s home video releases.
