The Mother of Thorns — also known in-game as Doja Cat — is a Fortnitemares mini-boss that you’ll want to find if you’re chasing event quests or the mythic Thorn Ripper. She isn’t marked on the map, so you’ll have to look for visual and audio cues and contest her with other players.

Where to find the Mother of Thorns in Fortnite
The Mother of Thorns can spawn in one of three pumpkin patches around the map during Chapter 6 Season 4’s Fortnitemares event. Doja Cat is a mini-boss, so her spawns are limited and often contested by other players.
Spawn locations
She has a chance to appear at these three spots:
- West of Supernova Academy
- Lower portion of Gourdy Gate
- Beside the southern red barn in Freaky Fields
Additionally, you’ll know she’s present if you see a boss icon on your minimap. Also, look for her sitting on a throne of thorns and listen for distinct music playing as you approach; those are clear indicators that she’s nearby.
How to defeat the Mother of Thorns in Fortnite
The fight itself is straightforward. The Mother of Thorns doesn’t use any special gimmicks during Fortnitemares, so combat is mostly standard: shoot until her health is gone. However, because other players are often hunting her for quests and loot, expect competition.
Rewards and after the fight
After you defeat her, she will drop the mythic Thorn Ripper, which is required for another Fortnitemares quest. In addition, you can revive her so she joins your party. She is also linked to three Fortnitemares quests, so defeating her helps complete those objectives.
