Those numbers place the two Demon Slayer films firmly at #1 and #2 on the list of highest-grossing anime movies. In addition, other top entries include Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name and Suzume, as well as Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away and The Boy and the Heron, which occupy spots in the top six.
Reception and production notes
Critically and commercially, the film benefited from Ufotable’s animation work. Many reviewers and viewers praised the studio’s visuals and the depiction of the film’s setting, the Infinity Castle, calling it a detailed and dynamic backdrop for the final battles. At the same time, some viewers noted issues with pacing and frequent flashbacks, which they felt affected overall flow.
Nevertheless, the box office results show strong audience demand for Demon Slayer on the big screen. Moreover, the achievement demonstrates that the franchise continues to draw large theatrical audiences worldwide.
