Wolverine PS5’s New Trailer Is Shockingly Brutal — Fall 2026 Release Confirmed

New trailer and footage
The trailer played during the State of Play highlights close-quarters, brutal combat. For example, Wolverine utters the line “I’m not a violent man,” and then the footage cuts to several scenes of him slicing and stabbing enemies. In addition, the teaser includes glimpses of large-scale fights and cinematic moments.
Later in the trailer, more characters appear on screen, which the studio did not recontextualize in its announcement. The trailer is the first substantial peek at the game since its 2021 reveal.
Release window and platform
Sony announced that Marvel’s Wolverine will launch on PlayStation 5 in fall 2026. No specific day or month was provided. The announcement came as part of the State of Play stream where the new trailer was shown.
Enemies, characters and setting
The trailer shows Omega Red and Mystique among other characters. In addition, early promotional material and the 2021 announcement suggested Madripoor as a likely setting, and the new footage appears to continue that tone.
Development history and leaks
Insomniac first announced Marvel’s Wolverine in September 2021. The original announcement trailer included small Easter eggs, such as a license plate referencing The Incredible Hulk #181. Since then, official updates were scarce until this State of Play reveal.
Separately, assets from the game were among materials leaked following a December 2023 ransomware incident that affected Insomniac and exposed internal data.
