World of Tanks 2.0 Lands Sep. 3 — 16 Tier XI Tanks, Operation Boiling Point PvE, Nordskar Map and New Heat Mode

Wargaming unveiled World of Tanks 2.0 at Gamescom Opening Night Live, and the update is scheduled to go live on Sep. 3. The free update lands on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC via Steam and the Wargaming Game Center, and it brings new tanks, a PvE event, a large rebalance, and a fresh map.
- Release date and platforms
- New PvE event Operation Boiling Point and Tier XI tanks
- Rebalance of 300+ tanks, hangar overhaul, UI and matchmaking improvements
- New Nordskar map
- Standalone mode World of Tanks: Heat
Major additions: tanks, PvE, and a battlefield
The update introduces a new PvE event mode called Operation Boiling Point, which debuts three Tier XI tanks and a new battlefield. In total, the initial 2.0 release includes 16 new Tier XI vehicles, and Wargaming says more Tier XI additions are planned later on. Also, the studio teased a new progression system but hasn’t shared details yet.
Balance, garage changes, and UI
Wargaming is rebalancing more than 300 tanks to aim for “smarter, fairer gameplay.” Meanwhile, the hangar gets a big change: it will become a tank factory where players can assemble machines and fit them with new equipment. The interface will receive a touch-up to be more informative and helpful, and matchmaking changes are intended to speed up queues and create more balanced matches.
New map and a standalone spin-off
Finally, World of Tanks 2.0 adds the long-requested Nordskar Scandinavian map. During the announcement, Wargaming also unveiled a brand-new mode called World of Tanks: Heat, a hero shooter–inspired stand-alone game that borrows elements of Overwatch and Advance Wars with tank and hero customization.
“2.0 isn’t just an update – it’s a cornerstone of the game’s future evolution that will define World of Tanks development for years to come,” Michael Broek, World of Tanks’ publishing director, said in a press release.
