You Can Literally Dismember Ninjas in Deadpool VR — Neil Patrick Harris Voices the Merc, Out Nov. 18 on Meta Quest 3S

Twisted Pixel’s Deadpool VR puts Marvel’s fourth-wall–breaking antihero in a reality TV setup with the villain Mojo. I played a 30-minute demo at Gamescom 2025, and this report sticks to the concrete details: voices, weapons, mechanics, and what the demo showed up to its end. The game is set to release on Nov. 18 for the Meta Quest 3S.
- What the demo covered: cast, core mechanics, enemy types, and a short preview of the encounter flow.
Who’s involved
The game is developed by Twisted Pixel Games. Deadpool is voiced by Neil Patrick Harris, and Mojo is voiced by John Leguizamo. The demo shown at Gamescom focused on a mission where Mojo wants Deadpool to recruit Marvel villains for a reality show.
Demo setup and story beats
The playable demo runs about 30 minutes. First, Deadpool targets Lady Deathstrike, who is leading an order of ninjas. Despite Deadpool claiming they went to ninja school together, she has him dismembered and dumped in a swamp. Deadpool regenerates and then explores a ninja temple to fight through waves of enemies for Mojo’s entertainment. During the demo, Deadpool also mentions a strong, silent guy who was “canceled.”

Core gameplay and movement
The demo combines melee, ranged combat, and traversal. Specifically, Deadpool uses two katanas, two pistols, and a grappling gun. You grab melee weapons by reaching behind Deadpool’s back, and sidearms from his holsters at the sides. The game supports quick regeneration after dismemberment, shown with detailed VR perspective.
Traversal includes using the grappling gun to ascend walls, running along walls to cross gaps, and sliding under blade traps. There’s also a toggle to reduce automatic movement, which helps if you don’t want to walk in circles or risk hitting real-world obstacles.
Combat flow
Combat comes in waves. Ninjas attack with katanas and throw knives that glow with dark red energy. Shooting uses simple point-and-click aiming, while slashing uses motion swipes for more tactile hits. When you drop weapons, new ones float in reach for a short window. Additionally, cabinets around arenas can be opened to get upgraded guns with limited ammo. After those items are used, you can pull your holstered weapons again.
Special elements and progression in the demo
During the demo, Spiral — Mojo’s lieutenant — explains mechanics in a tutorial role and later opens a portal that grants Gambit-style throwing cards. The demo also showed moments when Deadpool’s limbs were regrown and his suit appeared to adjust accordingly. Each enemy wave activated statues that funneled red energy into a central device, which appeared to be building toward a larger encounter. However, the demo ended before a final boss fight unfolded.
Final notes
Overall, the demo emphasized fast-paced, chaotic combat with regenerating health mechanics and mixed melee/ranged play. The title is scheduled for release on Nov. 18 for the Meta Quest 3S, and the Gamescom demo covered the opening mission against Lady Deathstrike and several arena waves of ninjas.
