What ymfah did
In this run ymfah allowed every enemy hit to land. Specifically, they avoided all defensive options the game offers: no dodging, no parrying, no jump dodging, and no gradient countering. The playthrough was completed on the game’s hardest setting.
Why that matters
Parrying in Clair Obscur grants characters AP, which are then consumed to unleash more powerful skills. By not parrying, ymfah reduced the amount of AP available and therefore used fewer high‑damage skills. As the player explains in the video, that leads to a “vicious” cycle of dealing less damage while taking the most damage possible from enemies.
How they won anyway
Rather than relying on defenses, ymfah leaned on the game’s Pictos and Lumina systems. They used those systems to boost stats and passive buffs, focused on enhancing characters’ free aim attacks, and stacked damage multipliers—quoted in the video as “like it’s Balatro”.
The run also uses a known exploit: skipping the Évêque encounter early to farm enough experience points, then returning later when the party was stronger. Despite that, ymfah finished the main game and defeated the post‑game bosses, completing the full all‑hit playthrough.
