YouTuber Spends the Night in Silent Hill 2 Remake VR — Has Chamomile Tea with Pyramid Head

Dredile, a YouTuber who posts VR gameplay, spent a night sleeping inside the 2024 Silent Hill 2 remake while playing it in virtual reality. He explored early areas, met Pyramid Head from a distance, brewed tea in real life, and then tried to sleep while wearing his VR headset and sitting on his couch.

You can watch Dredile’s full session, which shows the playthrough and the sleep attempt, on his YouTube video.

First impressions

Dredile says this was his first time playing the Silent Hill 2 remake in VR. Right after launching the game his first words were, “Oh fuck.” He described the updated visuals as both beautiful and unsettling, and noted that navigating the environment in VR felt disorienting.

Tea with Pyramid Head

After exploring, Dredile reached the Wood Side Apartments area, where Pyramid Head appears behind metal bars. Because the monster could not reach him there, he stepped away, brewed chamomile tea, and returned to VR to have what he called a one-sided conversation.

He said, “He’s the silent-but-deadly type, so it was mostly a one-way conversation.”

Finding a campsite

Key and apartment access

During the session, Dredile found the key to Wood Side Apartments. He used it to enter the building and to check rooms for safety.

Choosing a room

Some rooms contained enemies, while others were empty or contained bodies. He picked a room with a couch near a window as a spot to call his campsite. Then, to simulate the experience, he laid blankets on his real-life couch and sat down while still wearing the VR headset.

Sleeping in Silent Hill

After setting up, Dredile attempted to sleep while still in VR. He reported that nothing ambushed him and that ambient noise did not disturb him much. In his own words: “Thankfully, nothing ambushed me, and the ambient noise wasn’t too scary, so I slept pretty well, actually.”

He also commented on the remake’s production values, saying, “Overall, the graphics and the atmosphere were probably some of the best I’ve ever experienced in VR.”

Other VR nights

Dredile has previously attempted similar overnight sessions in other horror games. Examples he has posted include sessions for Resident Evil 7, Outlast, and Alien: Isolation.

He also previously spent a night in a VR-modified version of the original Silent Hill; that video is available on his channel as well.
